It’s all aboard for Retford u3a’s first Big Night Out of 2024 on Friday 12th January at Retford Golf Club.
It’s a big one because Sue Paul’s devilishly clever Table Quiz Bingo at the October Big Night Out stumped everyone. The best table managed only 15 correct answers out of 25, but no table managed to get a line.
That means the prize pot carries over to January. The winning table could be splitting £80!
What better to lighten your mid-winter blues? A lovely two course meal with friends, a bar and a quiz with a big prize on offer. When you add in the secure gated carpark, it’s a perfect night out. Make sure that you contact Sue Paul to book your place early, as the October event sold out.
On behalf of Retford u3a Committee, thanks to all who contributed to the successful Open Afternoon in late September. Many groups were represented. It was great to see the variety of interests that members can pursue, and for visitors to have a chat to group leaders and group members as well as have a look at displays and materials. Over 100 visitors attended and five new members signed up.
The next General Meeting is on 25th January, when member Betty Merrick will give a fascinating talk on the 80th anniversary of the Italian Armistice. Betty has strong family connections with Italy during the war, and her talk draws on family memorabilia to paint a vivid picture of our recent past.
In the meantime, the Retford u3a Committee wants to wish all members and their families a healthy and happy Christmas!
