Wellow Maypole Celebrations

by | 15 May 2026 | Mansfield

With the return of warmer weather, it’s time to look forward to the Maypole Celebrations at Wellow on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May! This well-loved traditional village festival returns with lots of fun for all. Many old favourites will be on the maypole green waiting for you – Morris dancers, Punch and Judy, Ollerton Town Drum Corps, and children’s swing boats. Live music will be provided by Ollie Hayes. The entertainment will be courtesy of Storm in a Teacup circus performing their unicycle tricks.

All this plus the children’s procession, crowning of the May Queen, and not forgetting the all important maypole dancing. The children have practised for several weeks to perform the complicated ribbon plaiting around Wellow’s splendid 17 metres high maypole. If you’ve never visited, it is a wonderful spectacle!

From 12.00pm until 5.00pm there will be non-stop entertainment, plus games and stalls selling a whole range of merchandise, homemade cakes, and food and drink. There is also the grand prize raffle, with the chance of some good prizes!

Make a note of the date for a great afternoon out and visit Wellow on Monday 25th May!
