After a well-deserved summer break, Mansfield Choral Society is ready to dust off the sheet music and resume rehearsals this September as it begins preparing for its upcoming Christmas concert season.
At the heart of the society is a commitment to making great music together. Best of all, there are no auditions — anyone aged 16 and above is welcome, from seasoned vocalists to those whose musical career is currently strictly confined to the safety of a refreshing shower. From classical choral pieces and Broadway numbers to music with very interesting arrangements by renowned composers, the society’s varied repertoire ensures there is always something fun and engaging to learn.
The society gathers in the wonderfully spacious and bright surroundings of Ladybrook Community Centre, providing an ideal, inviting environment to stretch vocal cords. Guiding members on this journey is the brilliant Music Director, Diane Haslam. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music and an accomplished mezzo-soprano soloist, Diane brings a wealth of professional performance experience, expert vocal coaching, and an infectious passion for singing to every session.
Beyond the music, the society’s community spirit shines through at every event, including concert raffles held to raise vital funds for the John Eastwood Hospice.
