The second concert will be held at Forest Town Arena on Thursday 18th December at 7.30pm. This has become a local tradition, as the choir has performed this concert every year for over 20 years, joined by the top-class brass band Newstead Brass, led by Mr Martin Heartfield. Ranked as the 71st best brass band in the world, Newstead Brass are an impressive addition to the festive line-up. The choir looks forward to this Christmas-defining event, with the band, the choir in relaxed mode, and a packed concert room filled with smiling faces. Tickets went on sale at the start of October and have already sold out.
As 2026 approaches, many people will be making New Year’s resolutions, and for the choir, it is the perfect time to welcome new members. The New Year, New Hobby message attracts many, with newcomers often wishing they’d joined earlier. There is great camaraderie in the choir, which performs around 15 concerts each year, including appearances outside the local area. In 2026, the choir has visits planned to Portsmouth and Bury St Edmunds, where they will share the stage with both male voice and mixed choirs.
Two local landmark concerts are also planned for 2026, both at Mansfield Rugby Club. Following the success of the summer concert this year with Ravenshead Swing Band, the choir will return with another headline event on Saturday 20th June (guests to be announced). In addition, they are thrilled to welcome the renowned Welsh Male Voice Choir, Morriston Orpheus, on Saturday 28th March. These concerts, along with the camaraderie of choir life, offer a rewarding new hobby and the chance to represent the town of Mansfield while contributing to local charity and culture.
