Supporters of King’s Mill, Newark, and Mansfield Community hospitals can now give back by signing up to a weekly lottery offering a top cash prize of £25,000.
The Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity has launched ‘Your Charity Lottery’, allowing people to contribute £5.00 per month to the charity and be entered into a weekly lottery draw. The first draw is scheduled for Saturday 19th July.
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which operates the three hospitals, is supported by the Charity, which helps enhance patients’ experiences by funding projects and services beyond what the NHS can provide.
The Trust is the largest provider of healthcare services in Mansfield, Ashfield, and Newark and Sherwood, with many grateful patients, families, and community members eager to give back in appreciation of the care received.
The introduction of the lottery gives supporters an opportunity to contribute regularly, for just £5.00 per month.
By participating in the weekly lottery, supporters can help improve the experiences of patients, their families, visitors, and staff, while also having the chance to win a cash prize of up to £25,000.
Funds raised through the lottery can help to:
- Provide the little extras that make hospital stays more comfortable for patients and their families or visitors
- Fund environmental enhancements to improve patient facilities
- Purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment to support high-quality care
- Enable staff to access additional training, development, and wellbeing support
Ken Godber, Head of Charity Development and Corporate Partnerships at the Trust, said: “The lottery will make a big difference to what the charity can fund around the Trust. The projects that the charity has been involved in previously have had such a positive impact on our patients, visitors, and staff, and we are extremely grateful for every donation received.
“We know that there are people who would like to make regular contributions to the charity. The lottery gives those people the chance to support the charity regularly in small amounts, with the incentive of a cash prize if their numbers are drawn.”
A recent project funded by the charity was the improvement of the waiting area outside Ward 25 at King’s Mill Hospital. This was made possible through a £12,500 donation to children’s services in appreciation of the care received.
The improvements included redecoration, new tables and chairs, and colourful wall art, creating a welcoming and more comfortable environment for families waiting for tests, reviews, or medication upon discharge. The area also supports the children’s physiotherapy department and community service.
