Bilsthorpe Library is located on the Crescent, NG22 8QX, right behind the Miner’s Welfare. The library is open on Wednesdays from 9.30am to 1.00pm, Fridays from 1.30pm to 5.00pm, and Saturdays from 9.30am to 1.00pm. Once you become a member, you can borrow books, use computers, print and photocopy, access ancestry records, and participate in community groups.

Regular events
Rattle, Rhyme and Roll (followed by Stay and Play) Every Wednesday at 11.00am
This friendly, relaxed song session for babies and toddlers is a great way for new mums to meet other local parents, have fun, and share rhymes.
Friendship and Knitting Group Every Wednesday at 10.30am
Members of the group enjoy a nice cuppa and a chat. Knitting and craft projects are welcome, or participants can help piece together the library’s communal jigsaw.
Open Reading Group First Friday of every month at 2.00pm
Visitors can pop in to pick up the current month’s book, read it, and return for the discussion meeting to share their views.
Adult Art Club First Wednesday of every month at 10.30am
Participants are invited to bring along their ongoing art projects or simply come with ideas. All methods and techniques are welcome, from watercolours and crayons to sewing. It’s an opportunity to see what’s being created in the village.
Citizens Advice
Worried about debts, benefits, budgets, housing, energy, work, or relationships? Citizens Advice runs a drop-in service every Wednesday at Bilsthorpe Library from 9.30am to 12.30pm. This service provides free, confidential, impartial, and non-judgemental advice.
Ongoing activities
- The adult jigsaw puzzle is always out and awaiting clever visitors to have a go at placing in pieces and completing it.
- Children’s craft and colouring-in sheets are available on the children’s craft table.
- Lego is ready for children to use to create their own creations.
When the weather is warm, visitors can explore the little community fruit and vegetable garden to see what is growing and may even lend a hand. Anyone with plants looking for a new home is welcome to bring them along.
