October’s Coffee and Chat session hosted by Retford District MS Society Support Group will be held at The Well, Hospital Road, Retford DN22 7BD on Friday 2nd October from 10.30am until 12.00pm.

At the group’s August meeting, they welcomed back Emma Bouch, Dance Development Manager, who spoke about the benefits of seated dance.
Emma explained how dance can help improve movement, coordination and flexibility, while providing an enjoyable way to stay active and connected through the group’s online sessions. Members also tried some simple seated movements to music, with everyone taking part at their own pace and ability. It was an enjoyable session and showed how dance can be adapted to different levels of mobility.

In September physiotherapists Jo Pritchard and Tricia Richardson of Retford Pilates Clinic joined them. They kindly gave their time to check each member’s ability to balance when walking and standing upright, giving advice on what, if any therapy, would help to reduce falls in the future. Members thank them for their expert advice and ongoing support.
Regular group online sessions take place on Monday mornings, from 10.30am to 11.30am, and they always include plenty of humour from the comfort of home.

Anyone from the group interested in joining a session should contact Barbara on 07983 412161. September also included a group visit to Whitby’s Fish and Chip restaurant in Doncaster. Thanks go to Whitby’s for the delicious food, Bassetlaw Action Centre for providing community coaches and friendly drivers.

The group’s Swimathon is taking place on Sunday 11th October, 12.00pm to 2.00pm, at Retford Leisure Centre and their annual fundraiser will be on Friday 6th November at 10.30am at The Well. The group is here to support you and your loved ones to live well with MS and they extend a very warm welcome to new members. If you know someone who may benefit, please encourage them to get in touch.
