Featuring the band and friends of the choir it will be an evening filled with live music, fun and includes interval nibbles! The venue is New Cross Church Hall, Sutton-in-Ashfield. The performance starts at 7.15pm. Tickets are £9.00 and need to be purchased in advance by emailing dukeriescommband@btinternet.com.
Players will then enjoy a very well-deserved summer break and will return to rehearsing in early September. Details of the rehearsal date will be posted on www.dukeriescommunityband.co.uk
The Dukeries Community Band is a community wind band comprising brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. It really doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while, or have started to learn fairly recently, as they welcome players of any age. All they ask is that you can read music, want to improve, can attend rehearsals and are keen to play in their concerts.
Playing in a band is a really good way to improve playing ability in a friendly, supportive environment. Musical Director Ray Jones has a great way of getting the best from players – he is always so encouraging, even when mistakes are made.
New players are welcome to rehearsals, to join in straight away or just to listen. They don’t audition. They meet each Tuesday during term time at St Paulinus Church, New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Their repertoire covers pop to classical music and lots in between.
The band’s concerts support the local community and charities. They are always happy to hear from organisations who would like the band to play for them.
