Beautiful private gardens, live music, classic cars and homemade teas will come together in the picturesque village of Gonalston this summer for the much-anticipated Gonalston Open Gardens event on Sunday 28th June. Running from 1.00pm to 5.00pm, the village event will open the gates to around eight unique and inspiring gardens, many of which are rarely seen by the public. Visitors will be able to enjoy everything from colourful cottage planting and productive kitchen gardens to tranquil water features and creative outdoor spaces, while supporting two important causes – Guide Dogs and St Laurence Church.
The event promises far more than gardens alone. Throughout the afternoon there will be classic cars on display, an art exhibition, plant stalls, Pimms, barbecues, afternoon teas and children’s entertainment, creating a relaxed village festival atmosphere for all ages. Entertainment will include performances from local musicians, the Rock Choir and the DAKO Flying Angels gymnastics team, alongside opportunities to explore the beautifully decorated historic church.
Organisers say the event celebrates both gardening and community spirit. “Gonalston Open Gardens is a wonderful opportunity for people to explore some truly special gardens while enjoying a fantastic afternoon in the village,” organisers said. “There will be something for everyone – whether you love gardening, music, art, food or simply spending time outdoors.” This year’s guest charity is Guide Dogs, with volunteers and guide dog puppies attending during the afternoon to raise awareness and support for people living with sight loss.
Advance tickets cost £8.00 and are available online, with tickets priced at £10.00 on the day. Parking and entry for children are free.
