The Heron Café is inviting residents and community groups to enjoy uplifting, friendly music-filled mornings, created by Newark and Sherwood District Council in partnership with Open Doors and Musicworks.
Held at the Lifespring Centre in Ollerton (NG22 9PP), the sessions offer an opportunity for people to come together, relax and share the enjoyment of live music. They are open to everyone, including adults with learning or support needs, people living with dementia, and care home or day centre groups, making them a genuinely inclusive community space. Each morning features live performances by local musicians who specialise in music for wellbeing. Whether participants enjoy singing along, tapping their feet or simply listening with a hot drink, The Heron Café provides a calm and friendly environment to brighten the day. Complimentary tea and coffee are available throughout the sessions.
Events run from 10.30am to 12.00pm and no booking is required. Visitors are welcome to drop in and enjoy the morning. The programme is delivered in partnership with Musicworks, whose musicians bring warmth, expertise and an understanding of how music can support wellbeing. Sessions are designed to help people feel comfortable, connected and engaged. Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and the Arts at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said that The Heron Café is a strong example of how music and community spirit can positively support wellbeing, offering relaxed and welcoming sessions for people of all ages and abilities.
The next sessions will take place on Wednesday 4th March, and Friday 20th March.
