Thanks to all those who visited the Village Hall on Saturday 15th November for Edwinstowe Hospice Support Group’s Christmas Fair. Despite the rainy morning, the presence of lovely Christmas decorations placed by the Village Hall Management Committee provided cheer and made for a warm atmosphere. It was lovely to present the group’s annual fundraising cheque to Tracey Joyce, Trust Manager of the John Eastwood Hospice. They presented a total of £8,580, a combination of £5,000 from the Support Group events plus £3,580 from Tracey Wilson and her online sales. The group extends thanks to Tracey and her family for their continued support and all their helpers who have
been present throughout the year.
The Christmas Fair itself raised £595, a great start to the new season of fundraising. A big thank you to all the helpers and supporters.
On Thursday 27th November, group members were present on the High Street for the Christmas Lights Switch On and festivities. Some very busy ticket selling for the group’s hamper raffle resulted in a total of £274 being raised. As usual, a stall was shared with a tombola run by Milly Gorman and the Trefoil Guild who donated £90 to the group, creating a final total of £364. Thank you to Milly and to all who bought tickets.
Sadly, Margaret Young, former Secretary to the Support Group for many years, passed away recently. She was much valued for her commitment, ideas and organisational skills and the support she and all her family gave to fundraising events, especially the Coffee Mornings. Edwinstowe Hospice Support Group wish everyone a Happy New Year.
