It has been a wonderful few months for the Inner Wheel Club of Warsop, with President Jean hosting her final two meetings filled with fun and friendly competition. A beetle drive in May and a quiz in June certainly got the grey cells working, with plenty of laughter and camaraderie throughout.
The ever-creative Inner Wheel ‘crafting fairies’ organised a summer craft day as the final fundraising event of President Jean’s year, where members enjoyed laughter, creativity and friendship while making beautiful handmade items. President Jean later had the honour of presenting cheques to her chosen charities, including her main beneficiary, the British Heart Foundation, in memory of her mother – a fitting tribute to a lovely lady. Further donations were also made to The Oaklands and the Warsop Sporting Trust.
In July, President Jenny took over the reins and got off to a fantastic start. The club’s tea tent at Warsop Carnival proved a great success, selling out completely on a busy but enjoyable day. A sunny walk around the grounds of Thoresby Hall offered members a chance to relax, reconnect and enjoy the outdoors, while September began with a coffee morning at President Jenny’s home – a lovely opportunity for members to chat and catch up.
The club celebrated its Charter (birthday) in early November with a wonderful evening of food and entertainment. During the celebration, a special presentation was made to member Joan Green, recognising her outstanding voluntary work with the National Police Aid Charity, where she has helped to source and pack goods for children and schools in Zambia and The Gambia. Joan received the prestigious Margarette Golding Award, which honours members who have given exceptional personal service to others. The club is immensely proud of Joan and deeply grateful for her dedication to both Inner Wheel and the National Police Aid Charity.
The ‘crafty fairies’ recently hosted another craft day filled with festive excitement as members created Christmas-themed pieces. The club has also enjoyed a series of engaging talks from guest speakers and looks forward to more inspiring events in the new year. President Jenny has many more fun and friendship-focused activities planned for the coming months. Anyone interested in joining the club, or visiting to learn more about what they do, is warmly invited to get in touch with Past President Sharlotte on 07969 355577 or email innerwheelwarsop@gmail.com.
