Farnsfield Cricket Club hosted a She Plays Cricket seminar in Nottingham on Saturday 4th October. The event proved to be an outstanding success, attracting participants from across the East Midlands.

Farnsfield Cricket Club would like to extend sincere thanks to the guest presenters – Blaze player Marie Kelly, Gemma Barton from Attenborough CC, coach Joe Ashdown, Leigh Burns from Lacuna Sports, Jemima Dalton from the East Midlands Women’s Cricket League, Amanda Bacon from Liverpool Cricket Club and international cricket scorer Jane Hough – for their valuable contributions. Their wide knowledge and experience of women’s cricket were evident throughout.

Those attending found the seminar both beneficial and thought-provoking, with many ideas, experiences and ambitions shared. The event provided an excellent opportunity for clubs to discuss the challenges of running women’s and girls’ cricket sections, with everyone taking away useful insights.

The She Plays Cricket seminar marked the culmination of an exceptional season for Farnsfield Cricket Club. The 1st XI not only finished runners-up in the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League Championship Division for the fourth consecutive year but also won the Mallen Cup T20 Competition. This victory qualified them to represent the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League in the Northern Regional stages of the ECB Vitality T20 Plate Competition.

After defeating Sprotborough CC (Yorkshire) and Preston CC (Lancashire), Farnsfield went on to beat Morpeth CC (Northumbria and North Tyneside) in an exciting final to become 2025 ECB Vitality T20 Plate Northern Champions.

Farnsfield CC were due to play Waltham CC, the Southern Champions, in the ECB Vitality T20 Plate Final at the beginning of September, but rain halted play after only three overs. The National Final will now take place early next season to decide the 2025 ECB Vitality T20 Plate National Champions.

All other sections of the club also enjoyed success this year. The 2nd XI consolidated their place in a higher division following last season’s promotion, and the 3rd XI finished third in their new division. The Junior Section was as competitive as ever, with the Under-10 team winning their league.

The Women’s and Girls’ Section, in only their third year and first playing Super 8 Hardball, finished runners-up in their division, while the softball team achieved a commendable mid-table position.
