It has been a lively few weeks at Gainsborough Men’s Shed, as members continue to demonstrate that community spirit is alive and well in the heart of town. From festival appearances to crafting triumphs, musical jams to wellbeing walks, the Shed is busier than ever – and warmly welcoming fresh faces through its doors.
The group was delighted to take part in the recent Go Festival, where their stall drew plenty of interest and the resident band, The Shedders, brought the main stage to life. Several curious festivalgoers have since become new members, drawn by the friendly atmosphere and varied programme. Music remains one of the Shed’s favourite ways to bring people together. Whether a total beginner or brushing up rusty strings, members are welcome to attend beginner guitar lessons on Thursdays from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Jam sessions continue to strike a chord with regulars:
- Tuesdays: Electric Guitar Jam, 1.00pm to 3.00pm
- Wednesdays: Acoustic Guitar Jam, 10.00am to 12.00pm
For those with creative inclinations, crafting sessions are proving popular. Led by the ever-enthusiastic Sarah, they offer a relaxed introduction to everything from diamond art to mixed media projects. There have been plenty of newcomers – and there is always room for more:
- Tuesdays: Crafting, 10.00am to 12.00pm
- Wednesdays: Art and Craft, 12.30pm to 3.00pm
- Thursdays: Diamond Art and Crafting, 12.30pm to 4.00pm
Recently started on a Tuesday evening, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm, is a Bereavement Support Group at the Shed run by Rita and Bev (Together We Support). Open to all, the group aims to bring people together in a spirit of gentle encouragement, conversation and care. A £5.00 entry fee covers refreshments, and every effort is made to ensure attendees feel at ease. Friday Wellbeing Walks are also becoming a firm favourite. They are all about walk, chat and snack – though the burgers may be more popular than the walking! From gardening to bicycle repairs and a good old cuppa, there is something for everyone aged 18 and over. Membership is just £20.00 until March 2026 and covers all activities. Whether visitors saw the Shed at Morton Feastival, caught them at Vibe Fest, or are hearing about them for the first time – all are warmly invited to visit in person.
