The Dukeries Community Band is currently enjoying a well-earned summer break, with rehearsals set to resume in early September once schools reopen.
Do you have a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument at home? Perhaps one you’re learning or haven’t played in a while? Would you like to improve your playing skills or experience the joy of making music in a friendly and supportive band environment?
If the answer is yes, then The Dukeries Community Band may be just what you’re looking for. The band meets every Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy in New Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Open to woodwind, brass and percussion players of all ages, the only requirements are the ability to read music, a commitment to regular rehearsals, and a desire to perform in concerts. The band’s repertoire includes a wide variety of music—from pop to classical and everything in between. Concerts are regularly performed in support of local community initiatives and charities, and the band is always pleased to hear from organisations interested in hosting a performance.
