April was another successful and eventful month for 1208 (Warsop) Squadron, filled with achievements, awards, and personal milestones.
The squadron congratulated Sgt Meakin and FS Daws on their recent promotions. After months of continuous improvement and dedication, both cadets were rewarded with well-deserved recognition.

Cadets from the September 2024 intake also celebrated success after earning their Blue Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Over recent months, they have spent time on parade nights undertaking practical exercises designed to build essential skills for their cadet journey.

In another notable achievement, Sgt Daws completed the Silver Road Marching Award at RAF Cosford. Over a gruelling weekend, he marched 80 kilometres across two days, earning a silver medal and badge. With both the Blue and Silver Road Marches completed, Sgt Daws is now eligible to train for the prestigious Gold Award, which includes participation in the Nijmegen Four-Day March in the Netherlands.

May began on a high note, with Sgt Daws and Cdts Windibank and Swift successfully completing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Reflecting on the experience, Cdt Swift shared: “Who knew walking could be so difficult? Carrying 10kg on my back didn’t help, but the satisfaction of reaching the final checkpoint was immense. It felt like winning the lottery – knowing every tough step, every stumble, every rationed meal was worth it. There was sadness too – leaving the amazing team I’d grown so close to. But I don’t regret the blisters or the effort. I’ll never forget the experience.”

Swift’s words captured the spirit of the event and served as a reminder of the personal growth and camaraderie the Air Cadets offers.

The squadron is proud of all who took part and looks forward to another rewarding month ahead.
