The Dukeries Singers recently enjoyed a fantastic time at their social event. It was a joyful evening where members came together not only as singers but also as friends. The event was filled with fun, singing, games, and a lively quiz that had everyone laughing and competing in great spirits. Special thanks go to everyone who helped organise and perform on the night – their efforts truly made it a memorable occasion.
In addition to the social gathering, the group had the privilege of attending a brilliant musical workshop led by Kate Bidwell, a music teacher from Grantham. Kate joined a rehearsal to support those who wished to improve their music-reading skills and pitch accuracy. Her teaching style was both engaging and supportive, using simple, instructive cards to break down complex concepts into manageable steps. Her comfortable and capable manner created a positive learning environment where everyone felt at ease to ask questions and try new techniques.
The techniques and insights she shared proved invaluable, and it was clear that everyone left the session with enhanced skills and a renewed passion for singing.
Looking ahead, the Summer Concerts are just around the corner – a wonderful opportunity to showcase the hard work and dedication put into rehearsals. This year’s concerts will feature music from popular stage shows, which is sure to delight audiences. The group continues to support one another and strive for excellence at every practice. There is no doubt their combined enthusiasm and talent will result in performances to be remembered for years to come.
New singers are always warmly welcomed, especially those looking to return to singing. For further information, please contact John Banbury on 07759 086132.
