Some of the crowd are on the pitch! They think it’s all over! Well sadly it is now as the sun sets on another hugely successful cricket season for Retford Cricket Club’s (RCC) Senior Teams. Highlights of the year include:
- Their 1st XI coming fourth in the Championship of the Bassetlaw League. A number of the losses could very easily have been victories and the 1st team will be pushing hard for promotion to the Notts Premier League next season.
- Their 2nd XI came third in the league, narrowly missing out on consecutive promotions. A team with a number of promising youngsters with some older minds to keep them focussed will surely achieve their aim of promotion next time around.
- Their Sunday XI achieved back-to-back promotions, winning their league with a thrilling victory over Shirebrook in the final game of the season. A team which is going from strength to strength will be looking to do the treble next season.
All senior teams are mixed and whilst they have opportunities for single sex cricket, RCC wants to ensure that all players are playing at the appropriate level for their age and ability.
Retford is a club which is getting stronger and stronger year on year and so if you are currently playing cricket and want to move to an ambitious club which is achieving and going places, RCC will give you a very warm welcome. Indeed, next year they are launching a 2nd Sunday XI to focus on development of younger players and those who want to return to cricket after an absence from the game.
This volunteer-run Club also warmly welcomes anyone offering to help run their array of cricket related activities; knowledge of cricket is NOT a requirement.
