Residents of Edwinstowe Village and Ollerton Town can enjoy new Community Singalongs, starting on Monday 8th April in local community centres.
The self-entertainment (there will be a compère) is free and the admission price of £1.00 per person covers light refreshments.
Nobody attending needs to be able to read music. The music and the song-sheets will be provided. The fun comes from singing along with music from popular artists and from the musicals.
The new activity in Edwinstowe and Ollerton is supported by Newark and Sherwood District Council who are grant-aiding the costs of the music licence and insurance and providing the venues. The organisers are thankful for their assistance.
Edwinstowe events will be held on Mondays 8th and 22nd April at the Lynds Close Community Centre off East Lane, NG21 9RB. Doors will open at 4.15pm and close at 5.45pm.
Ollerton events will also be held on Mondays 8th and 22nd April, at the Ambleside Community Centre, Yew Tree Road, NG22 9UR. Doors will open at 7.00pm and close at 8.30pm.
Organiser Kevin Mulloy wants local residents to enjoy the singalong, and the focus will always be on coming along and singing and enjoying themselves.
“The age-range we are aiming at is 18 to 99 years,” said Kevin, “but children at least 10 years old can be brought along, as long as a parent or guardian brings them and supervises them throughout their time in the community centre.
“Anyone needing a carer is welcome to attend with their carer (who must be present throughout). The carer will be admitted at no extra cost.”
The Singalongs in April are expected to include songs from ABBA, Celine Dion, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart and Roy Orbison, as well as songs from the musicals.
Phone or text 07988 620714 or email agarden8@outlook.com if you wish to be included in notifications of future Singalongs in Edwinstowe or Ollerton or both.
