Ollerton WI

by | 15 March 2022 | Group meeting, Hobbies, Sherwood, Social Group, WI

The members of Ollerton WI enjoyed seeing each other face-to-face at their February meeting. The meeting was well attended, including by several new members. The speaker was Lesley Beasley, who spoke about the history of stock-cube brand Oxo. It was very interesting and included a competition to submit a recipe using Oxo cubes (other brands are available!), this month won by Anne-Marie.

March sees a ‘Four Corners’ craft evening, in which members learn a little about many different crafts in one evening. This event has been a success before, and if one particular craft seems to strike an interest then this can be followed up. Of course, this is be accompanied by refreshments and a good old chat.

In between monthly meetings, the WI organises events such as Walking Netball (always well received), walks and darts matches. In February members baked cakes for a cake stall at the Jubilee Hall.

Forestry England has given permission for Ollerton WI to plant 100 trees in Ollerton Pit Woods. Sherwood Forest Trust has donated the trees, with the two organisations working in partnership to set up the project. Why 100 trees? To celebrate Ollerton WI’s 100th birthday!

The group keeps its members busy, so if you are interested in joining Ollerton WI and would love to get out, meet all the lovely members and enjoy a good chat, please contact Sue Westwell on 01623 860530 or 07982 429176. Meetings take place at Jubilee Hall, Wellow Road, Ollerton on the first Thursday of every month at 7.15pm until 9.45pm. New members are always welcome!
