The cost of energy is very high at the moment and it’s causing many people to worry. People may choose to switch because they’ve found a better deal or a firm with better customer service etc, but there are very limited options on the market at the moment. It may be worth waiting and thinking about whether switching is really the best option. It’s important not to rush into anything.
Citizens Advice Sherwood and Newark know how stressful it can be to be worrying about affording bills and essentials. It’s important to get help as soon as possible.
Customers can contact their supplier if they’re worried about being able to afford to pay their bills – they should offer you affordable options to repay, and may offer other support.
Citizens Advice advisers will be able to help with things like checking if you can get a fuel voucher to tide you over, work out a payment plan with your energy supplier and checking to see if there is any further support available, such as grants or discounts.
Little everyday things can help, such as making sure televisions and other electronic devices are switched off and not left on standby; washing clothes on a lower temperature; and only filling the kettle with the water you need. The Government’s Simple Energy Advice website has more tips like this.
