Live music is back at the Wesley Centre in Maltby on Saturday 5th March, with a much anticipated concert from the award winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger and composer Phil Beer.
Charming, disarming and exceptionally talented, Phil is something of a national treasure on the folk, roots and acoustic scene. One half of internationally acclaimed folk / acoustic roots pioneers Show Of Hands, he is in much demand for his solo shows, having been described by The Guardian as ‘Where Steve Earle and Richard Thompson collide’.
Perhaps best known as a top-flight fiddler, Phil is also a master of slide, Spanish and tenor guitars, mandocello, viola, mandolin and South American cuatro, not to mention contributing his rich and remarkable vocals. All are songs and music of memory and significance, sung in the subtle and melodic Phil Beer style and interjected with musings and amusings to an almost personal audience. Very old songs, very new songs, so much to choose from after all this time.
