To celebrate World Inner Wheel Day, 19 members from the Warsop Club met at Langwith Village Hall, in keen anticipation of a lovely faith lunch and an afternoon making decorative slates under the guidance of their President Ruth. After locating the missing bread and the aforesaid President (who had had to return home to collect the aforesaid slates), members tucked in to a choice of three soups (with bread… lots of bread), followed by an array of desserts. President Ruth, assisted by Helen, then demonstrated just how easy it is to turn a plain heart shaped piece of slate into a beautiful wall hanging with a picture of choice.
Aprons were donned, paint was dabbed, slates were dried, more paint was dabbed and dried, pictures were applied with glue, more drying and then the final, and most exciting/messy bit — splattering with different colours to achieve a very professional looking finish.
The finished slates looked splendid and members were all happy to take home a beautiful memento of a lovely day. A raffle was held and all proceeds will benefit Sue’s international projects. Thank you to her and to Ruth for organising a fun day to celebrate the club’s 49th birthday.
Then on 28th February, 150 ladies all members of District 22 Inner Wheel gathered at the Post Mill Centre at South Normanton looking forward to an evening of fun and friendship, and eagerly awaiting the annual D22 District Quiz.
The Warsop club was represented by two teams, also two members of the club who are on the district executive team joined the marking team. Don’t worry it is all above board they weren’t marking Warsop’s papers, which is a shame as their teams could have done with a little help.
At the end of the ten rounds, all their brains were empty and they looked forward to seeing the Church Belles crowned the winners having held on to the lead from the start. Congratulations to everyone else, and they were closely followed in second place by the Alfreton All sorts and Ruffy’s Ruffians from the Keyworth and Ruddington Club. The two teams from Warsop came 22nd and 23rd out of a total number of 32 teams, but only two points apart. It was a lovely evening of chatter, banter and a great social event with ladies from all over the district coming together.

As a club, Warsop meet at 7.00pm on the first Wednesday of the month at the Hostess, and Sherwood Forest meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 6.30pm at the Red Brick House.
