Worksop Wonders WI

by | 3 June 2021 | Social Group, WI, Worksop

Wonders WI are excitingly waiting to begin face-to-face meetings, which they hope will start on Wednesday 8th September 2021. Their first guest speaker is Sue Burton, talking about ‘Looking Good in Colour’. We all need a bit colour back in our lives after the past year!
The group will continue to meet at the Crossing on Newcastle Avenue, Worksop from 7.00pm to 9.00pm on the second Wednesday of the month. During lockdown, they have kept in touch via Zoom meetings, newsletters and quizzes, etc.
With the easing of restrictions and the warmer weather, they wanted to help members get back outside and start socialising again. They have, therefore, decided to encourage members to look after their physical and mental health by organising walks.
Worksop Wonders decided to accept the ‘Move for Nottinghamshire Mind’ challenge, supporting a local charity, and also to join in the Nottingham WI Federation ‘Miles for May’ event. Members have undertaken both individual walks and programmes of small group walks for all abilities during May. It’s been such a successful and enjoyable activity, that will benefit those involved both mentally and physically. They are still collecting the total number of miles that the group have collectively achieved.
Members have also supported Mind by helping to sew the ribbons onto the medals for their ‘Move for Nottinghamshire Mind’ challenge participants.
Membership to Worksop Wonders WI is open to all ages of women. New members are always welcome to join them. It’s a great way to make new friends, or go along with an existing group of friends. No need to book, just turn up for a meeting and see what they are all about. You may be surprised!
The first two meeting that you attend are free of charge and annual membership is then £44.00 per year, which covers the cost of all meetings and eight copies of WI Life magazine plus access to numerous county and national WI events. Check them out on Facebook,, and
