Since September, Worksop Wonders WI have enjoyed a very successful return to face-to-face monthly meetings.
The group continue to meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.00pm at The Crossing, Newcastle Avenue, Worksop. The meeting is held in a hall at the rear of the building and parking is available in the Queens Street car park which is very nearby.
Membership is increasing each month and it’s lovely to be able to make new friends whilst developing new interests and gaining knowledge from speakers on a range of subjects.
At their October meeting they were shown a presentation by North Notts Blood Bikes. Members were all so impressed with their organisation and the dedication of their volunteers. Also in October, a Sunday day trip to Cannon Hall, including a house tour and afternoon tea, was thoroughly enjoyed by some of their members.
The November meeting concentrated on mental health, including a talk from Muddy Fork.
December’s meeting on Wednesday 8th December is going to be a fun event with Iris Starky telling the group Comedy Monologues. On 12th January they will be celebrating the group’s 10th birthday, where Annie Fotherington will be singing a Country and Western themed evening.
As ever, potential new members are always welcome to join them for the evening, free of charge. Membership to the WI is open to all women of any age group. They specifically have evening meetings to give working women the opportunity to attend. It’s a great way to make new friends or to go along with an existing group of friends.
The first two meetings that you attend are free of charge and annual membership is then £44.00 per year. There is a pro rata reduction for members joining during the year. This covers the cost of all meetings and eight copies of WI Life magazine, plus access to numerous county and national WI events.
