Worksop Wonders WI continue to slowly return to enjoying more sociable events and activities.
After the success of their Miles for May walking challenge, to both support MIND and to help their members gradually and safely get out again, they have formed a regular walking group. They managed, as a group, to walk a total of 646 miles during May. That’s like walking from Lands End to Arbroath. They even managed to get a tweet about their achievement from the national WI.
In June, several members went to see The Last Night of the Proms at Retford Majestic Theatre. They really enjoyed the evening and waving their Inion Jack flags.
During July they hoped to hold their first face-to-face meeting since lockdown in the form of a garden party. Their first meeting back at The Crossing, Newcastle Avenue will be on Wednesday 8th September at 7.00pm to 9.00pm, when the guest speaker is Sue Burton talking about ‘Looking Good in Colour’. They think we all need a bit of colour back in our lives after the past year!
Membership is open to all ages of women and meetings are held at the Crossing on Newcastle Avenue, Worksop at 7.00pm to 9.00pm on the second Wednesday of the month. New members to Worksop Wonders WI are always welcome to join them. It’s a great way to make new friends or to go along with an existing group of friends.
The first two meeting that you attend are free of charge and annual member is then £44.00 per year, which covers the cost of all meetings and eight copies of WI Life magazine plus access to numerous county and national WI events.
