Worksop Wonders WI’s next monthly meetings are at 7.00pm on 9th August and 13th September (both Wednesday) at Thievesdale Community Centre.
The evening in August will be a games night including indoor curling, and in September the guest speaker will be PCSO Cathy Parker from Notts Police.
The lovely summer weather was perfect for the group’s June afternoon tea garden party, where some members found the delicious cakes too good to resist!
The very popular Book Club meets once a month on a Monday evening at the Shireoaks Inn to discuss the selected book of the month.
The WI members’ craft group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month between 1.00pm and 4.00pm at the Thievesdale Centre. Members bring along their own craft work and have a cuppa and natter with other members. There are crocheters, knitters, embroidery, quilters, sewing, cardmaking and more – go along and see what they do.
A newly formed ‘Meet and Eat’ group is planning to try out various eateries, both at lunchtime and in the evening.
Autumn planned events will include a talk and demonstration on pork pie making and trips to Owlerton dog race stadium, Halifax Piece Hall and the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield, while six lucky ladies are going together for a week in Crete in October.
Membership has grown and they now have over 50 members with an age range spanning over 40 years, but it is now near capacity for the Community Centre. The group has started a waiting list for membership and will offer places to ladies in order of their place on the waiting list.
The first visit is free of charge and allows opportunity to see if membership is for you – but please make contact via Facebook or the webpage prior to attending for the first time.
