Worksop Wonders WI

Remembrance and poppies have been the theme of the past few months for Worksop Wonders WI.

In September, the group remembered our late Queen with a two-minute silence and then, in WI tradition, a cake.
Some members have been busy making knitting 70 poppies for Clumber Park. The poppies will form part of a remembrance cascade that will be on display in Clumber Chapel from 1st November. In addition, a wreath made by members will be laid at the Worksop War Memorial on Remembrance Day.

Recently, the book club really enjoyed a trip to Nottingham to see the Mousetrap.

Worksop Wonders WI’s November meeting will be Wednesday 9th November, 7.00pm at Thievesdale Community Centre. There will be no guest speaker, but members will be busy preparing for Christmas projects. A day trip to York Christmas market and York Chocolate Tour is booked for later in November.

Membership has grown and is now near capacity for the Community Centre. The group has started a waiting list for membership and will offer places to ladies in order of their place on the waiting list. The first visit is free of charge and allows opportunity to see if membership is for you – but please make contact via Facebook or the webpage prior to attending for the first time.

For more information, or to contact the group about potential membership, visit www.worksopwonders.weebly.com or find the group on Facebook @realworksopwonders.
