Now that the nights are drawing in and becoming cooler, Worksop Wonders WI is busy organising indoor events and activities in the run up to Christmas. They have arranged a visit to York Christmas Market with an optional tour of the chocolate factory in November, followed by two theatre trips to Nottingham later in the month.
Worksop Wonders’ sub-groups of crafting, walking and book club have now expanded to include a new cinema / theatre group.
The Book Club continues to grow, and meetings have had to be moved to a larger premise to accommodate everybody. The knitters within the Wonders have been busy creating poppies for the Clumber Park big Poppy Knit Remembrance display. In addition, they are making orange flowers for the Soroptimist International of Nottingham campaign for ’No more Violence against Women’ vigil on Friday 25th November from 11.00am to 2.00pm at Nottingham Playhouse.
Worksop Wonders WI’s next meeting will be Wednesday 12th October at 7.00pm at Thievesdale Community centre. The guest speaker will be from WEBA Waste, advising members what they can and cannot recycle.
Membership has grown and is now near capacity for the Community Centre. The group has started a waiting list for membership and will offer places to ladies in order of their place on the waiting list.
The first visit is free of charge and allows opportunity to see if membership is for you – but please make contact via Facebook or the webpage prior to attending for the first time.
