Worksop Wonders WI

by | 7 September 2022 | Social Group, WI, Worksop

Summer appears to have flown by and we will soon be seeing the autumn changes appearing. Worksop Wonders WI has many events and activities planned to help fill the longer evenings.

During the summer the WI took advantage of the warmer weather and held a great picnic instead of the official monthly meeting in August.

The picnic also celebrated their 10th anniversary, which of course included a delicious birthday cake. A lovely day was had by all, which included quizzes and games (who knew the group had some talented boules players!). The afternoon was a great success.

Some members got their knitting needles out and took part in making knitted twiddlers in aid of dementia awareness – the 2022 Inspire Charity Knitting Challenge.

Their knitted twiddlers were presented to Worksop Library to be displayed before they are distributed to the community.
The book club and walking group are continuing to prove very popular and successful.

The guest speaker on Wednesday 14th September will be Gary Cox, who will lead members on a journey down memory lane talking about the history of Woolworths.

Worksop Wonders WI meets at Thievesdale Community Centre at 7.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month.

Membership has grown and is now near capacity for the Community Centre. The group has started a waiting list for membership and will offer places to ladies in order of their place on the waiting list.
