The monthly meeting of Worksop u3a was held on Thursday 15th June, with speaker Maggy Watkins and her husband Chris from Pilgrims and Prophets.
They gave a talk about local links with the Pilgrim Fathers and the voyage of the Mayflower in 1620, which took pilgrims from England to the New World.
It was a fascinating talk on how the local area of Scrooby, Austerfield, Babworth and Gainsborough were highly involved in the history of the Mayflower.
The next meeting will be on Thursday 17th August at the Civic Centre, Carlton in Lindrick. The speaker will be u3a member Fran Walker who will give a talk on A History of Worksop Priory Gatehouse, presenting an illustrated guide to the history of this fascinating 14th century building in the heart of Worksop.
The meeting starts at 1.30pm with Fran starting her speech at 2.00pm. All welcome!
