Husband and wife folk singers and storytellers Fools Gold once again entertained members at Worksop u3a, this time with an evening entitled Stormy Stories 2.
Five stories were told along with folk songs, singing, guitar, flute and piccolo. One such story was ‘Little White Lie’, about a Country and Western singer who served two terms as Governor of Louisiana and opened his own Church.
Another was the story of Buddy Leadbeater-Leadbelly – a black singer imprisoned for singing a song he wrote in public. When the President heard the song he was released and became famous. The evening finished with a sing-song.
The next meeting on 17th August will feature the history of Worksop Priory Gatehouse. All are welcome. Join them at Carlton in Lindrick Civic Centre, Long Lane, Carlton in Lindrick S81 9AP. The hall is open from 1.30pm and the speaker starts at 2.00pm.
