U3a is a UK-wide organisation that provides the opportunity for those no longer in work to come together and learn for fun.
Worksop and District u3a has over 400 members with around 35 interest groups, including music groups such as ukulele and steel band, craft groups such as sewing and art, sports groups such as badminton and pétanque and general interest groups such as photography and natural history.
The group has a monthly meeting at the Carlton in Lindrick Civic Centre. Their next monthly meeting is on Thursday 16th February starting at 1.30pm, where they will hear from Dr Tim Gray MBE, Chairman EMICS, talking about the work of the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme.
EMICS is a network of volunteer doctors with specialist training in pre-hospital emergency medicine who assist East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) at the scene of life threatening emergencies. EMICS doctors provide advanced specialist skills at the point of accident or injury, where they are needed most.
Prospective new members are welcome to attend the monthly meeting where members will be on hand to answer questions about the u3a.
