Worksop Rotary Club round up

by | 14 February 2019 | Rotary, Worksop

On Tuesday 23rd October 2018, District Governor Cheryl Berry MBE and colleagues from Worksop Dukeries Club joined the Rotary Club of Worksop at the Lion Hotel for a very enjoyable evening and then on Tuesday 30th October they made an outside visit to Shireoaks Inn in Worksop for a piscatorial feast.

During November 2018 a number of the club’s members were at the Canch and Gateford Park planting bulbs in conjunction with Bassetlaw District Council. Look out for more spectacular displays in the spring! They were also very pleased to induct a new member to the club — Caroline Chambers. A very warm welcome was given.

Members were at the Tesco Superstore on Gateford Road for the club’s annual Christmas collection on 24th November, where £435 was raised for local good causes. A big thank you to Tesco and to everyone who donated on the day.
On Tuesday 27th November the club held their annual Community Fund Presentation Evening. Awards were made to Bassetlaw Food Bank, Christchurch Worksop, Contact the Elderly and Worksop District Pensioners Association.
Officers were elected for the next Rotary year on Tuesday 4th December and on Tuesday 17th December members celebrated their annual Christmas feast when 30 members and guests enjoyed good company and a lovely meal at the Lion Hotel.

10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th and 19th December were the dates of the club’s annual Christmas collections at Morrisons, when £1,398 was raised. Many thanks to customers and staff at Morrisons and to the members who gave their time each day.

Worksop Rotary has many interesting events and speakers arranged for the coming year. Why not give them a try? They meet every Tuesday evening at The Lion Hotel in Worksop — at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start. They would be very pleased to meet you. Please check them out on Facebook —
