The Royal British Legion is putting on an Armed Forces Day event at Worksop Rugby Club on Stubbing Lane, S80 1NF.
This year they are making it bigger by spreading the event over two days, Saturday 29th June, 11.00am to 5.00pm, and Sunday 30th June, 11.00am to 4.00pm. It will be free to enter, and there will be ample free parking available.
The bar will be open throughout the whole event. Food in abundance will be available provided by the rugby club, ‘Liver and Onions’ by Jeff in his external catering, plus ice-cream vans, Bewitched Sensations and Treat Yourself by JC.
There will be children’s fair rides, face painting, Harworth archery, lots of military stands, military re-enactment groups, a Winston Churchill look-a-like will be visiting on both days, a spiritual medium, paintball range and Split Links Motorcycle Club.
To keep everyone safe, the First Responders will be present throughout to provide first aid assistance should that be necessary.
On both days, on the stage will be the brilliant singer Lily Taylor-Ward accompanied by The Blidworth Band and Worksop Miners Welfare Band.
There is an amazing chance available to win a flight in a WWII Tiger Moth aircraft for only £10.00 a ticket.
Best of all will be a fly-past of a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster bomber on the Saturday – probably late afternoon – while the Nottinghamshire Seaforth Highlanders will perform on the Sunday.
Other attractions are in the pipeline, including the 16th Lancers Display Troop who will give two shows on each day. Organisers are grateful for the support of the Worksop Charter Trustees and many other local businesses who have supported this event by various donations.
Worksop Royal British Legion acknowledges the wonderful support they have with their partners at Worksop Rugby Club in staging this event.
