Worksop and District u3a

If you join Worksop and District u3a, you don’t have to join any groups – you could just join to go along to the monthly meetings to listen to the speaker. Monthly meetings were on Zoom through Covid, but face-to-face meetings are now back. The group meets on the third Thursday of each month at Carlton Civic Centre on Long Lane.

The speaker starts at 2.00pm, but doors open at 1.30pm to get a cuppa before the speaker starts!

There is a ‘Meet and Greet’ team at the door, so if you are going on your own there will be someone to welcome you, get you a drink, give you information and make sure you aren’t sat on your own.

The monthly meetings are an excellent place to get more information about the u3a. Group leaders from the Lunch and Travel groups are always at the meetings.

There has been a variety of different speakers over the years, talking about history, wildlife, local area, etc. There have been singers, storytellers and poets. Ali from Battersea Dogs Home spoke in August and brought her rescue dog with her. Earlier this year the ‘Owl Lady’ came along with two of her owls, and so much information about them.

The next meeting is Thursday 17th November. There will be a very brief AGM that day, followed by Rachel Barrowcliffe – a very experienced horticulturist who currently manages the Butterfly House at the Tropical Butterfly, Wildlife and Falconry Centre at Anston.
