The u3a in Worksop has had a busy summer. The travel group organised a short break to Liverpool at the end of August and are busy now looking at visits to local Christmas markets.
One of the busiest groups has been Steelpantastic, a unique Steel Band. The group is 19 strong and they meet once a week to rehearse. You may have heard them at the Nottinghamshire County Show at Newark in May. Since then, they have played at a wedding, at Carlton and Gedling u3a and at a local church for a fundraising event.
Two new groups are starting – a gardening group, which will meet once a month, and a calligraphy group which will meet twice a month. This brings the total number of active groups to around 33.
The speaker for September is Ali from Battersea Dog’s Home, who will be bringing her rescue dog with her. You can join the group to listen to her at Carlton Civic Centre on 15th September at 1.30pm and find out more about the u3a at the same time.
