Last month, members of the Worksop and District u3a enjoyed a special treat when Cambridge historian Adrian Gray gave a fascinating talk about Richard Bernard.
Based primarily in Worksop and Gainsborough, Bernard became a significant figure among the Puritans and Separatists during the reign of James I. Today, he is best known for his authoritative guide on witches. His long life was marked by controversy and conflict, and he left behind a legacy of many influential books.
The August meeting will feature the return of speaker Sam Millard, who blends history and poetry in his presentation ‘History, Mystery’. Sam will explore how historical events inspired some of the best-known children’s rhymes and poems.
