The u3a is a UK-wide organisation that provides the opportunity for those no longer in work to come together and learn for fun.
The Worksop and District u3a’s next monthly meeting is on Thursday 16th June at Carlton in Lindrick Civic Centre, when Ali from Battersea Dogs’ Home will be the speaker with her rescue dog, Mabel. The meeting starts at 1.30pm; go along to find out more about the u3a.
There are many different interest groups. One of the larger ones is the photography group, a mix of photographers with a wide range of skills and experience meeting every third Monday at 5.45pm to 7.30pm at Worksop Library. They use a range of cameras: some of the members use point and shoot, and some have more advanced kit. Increasingly members are using their smartphones to take photographs.
All members are more than willing to share their knowledge and help others. At each meeting they have discussions concerning various subjects, such as composition or the technical aspects of the cameras they use. They touch on some aspects of post-production to help get the most out of the software they have. Each month they set a theme for photographs, submit three or four each and discuss and enjoy them.
