Due to unforeseen circumstances Worksop and District u3a’s speaker was unable to make it to the latest meeting – so on literally five minutes’ notice two members made a very interesting and memorable afternoon.
Firstly, a very talented Peter shared his skill of juggling – which was so interesting that he will shortly be doing a taster afternoon for members to have a go! He said that, in around 20 years and having taught some 800 people he’d only had one person unable to juggle after about an hour’s training.
Secondly John, who has only recently retired from his work as a Weights and Measures officer, gave members a very interesting and informative talk about his work. It soon became very obvious that he had thoroughly enjoyed his working life.
The u3a would like to take this opportunity to thank them both for doing the meeting at such short notice.
The next meeting will be on 20th June at Carlton in Lindrick Civic Centre. The speaker will be Dr Emma Sheardown with her presentation ‘There’s No Such Word As Can’t’. This will detail Emma’s journey from proving medics wrong after they told her parents she would never walk or talk, to becoming World and European champion in the sport of Para Dressage.
