The Wednesday Group wishes a very happy New Year to all members and friends. They hope everyone has enjoyed the festive season and are looking forward to welcoming everyone back after the break.
Some new members joined just before Christmas and it is to be hoped that the group will continue to grow. The Wednesday Group is an informal social group for people with memory problems. There is a lively programme of activities including the old favourites – bingo and quizzes – and some new ones too. Chair exercises to music proved very popular, done the way visiting sports lady Sian has demonstrated. It’s lots of fun and quite energetic too!
Frank, a talented pianist, comes once a fortnight and there are occasional visits from Andy who chats to members in between playing the bagpipes. Both are very popular with members. Some people enjoy cards or dominoes while others prefer more active games such as boccia, quoits or new-age curling. Hopefully there is have something for everyone!
Each session costs £10.00 to cover expenses. This includes all activities, endless tea, coffee and biscuits and a light lunch. If you’re interested, please get in touch – the Wednesday Group may be just what you need!
If you care for someone with dementia or you yourself have a diagnosis, you may find help through the Wednesday Group or the Carers’ Group. For more information about either group contact Jan on 01777 709974.
