Voglia d’Italia (the Italian Society for South Yorks and North Notts) presents ‘To the Victor the Spolia: the Re-use of Byzantine Statuary and Masonry in Venice after the Fourth Crusade’ at its next meeting.
Dr Rosemary Morris, Visiting Fellow, University of York, focuses on the re-use of Byzantine sculpture and monumental masonry in and around San Marco, including treasures such as the bronze horses.
