The Wednesday Group’s fundraising efforts for the purchase of Oxycycles and other cycling exercise equipment got off to a flying start in May, with sponsorship money for the walk up Snowdon and lots of donations of money and prizes for the tombola stall at Charter Day. The stall, which was looked after to good effect by Sally Brand and volunteers from the Wednesday Group and the Time Machine, raised over £100 for the project. The group offers thanks to all those helpers and to the people who donated prizes, money or good ideas.
The Wednesday Group’s next venture will be in Worksop. They have been offered the charity bookstall in Tesco for the month of June. Any money raised from people buying donated books from the stall will be given to the project at the end of June. They have collected several bags of books to get things started and some interesting ones too; quite a lot of light fiction but also some interesting non-fiction: cookery books with some great recipes (including vegan ones), exercise books, and even a couple about the appreciation of church architecture!
Go along and have a browse and, if you’ve got any books you’ve finished with, please put them on the stall. It’s all for a really good cause – getting people with memory problems active again – and the group will make sure the results are posted as widely as possible.
