Steelpantastic

There’s a vibrant rhythm pulsing through Worksop, and it’s coming from Steelpantastic – the only u3a steel band in the UK. This unique and joyful ensemble is set to perform for their home branch, Worksop and District u3a, in a celebration of music, community, and Caribbean flair.

With a repertoire as colourful as a Caribbean sunset, Steelpantastic takes listeners on a musical journey spanning genres and generations. Expect the infectious beats of a calypso medley, the nostalgia of Apache and Something Stupid, and the reggae warmth of One Love and Red, Red Wine. From the dreamy strains of Somewhere Over the Rainbow to the tropical charm of Banana Boat Song and Yellow Bird, there is something for every taste.

The band’s line-up features the full family of steel pans – Tenor, Guitar, Double Seconds and Bass – creating a rich tapestry of melody and harmony. Their sound is joyful, their style is carnival, and their spirit is inclusive. Whether jazz, pop or traditional calypso, Steelpantastic plays it all with flair, finesse and plenty of fun. More than just a band, Steelpantastic is a community. Welcoming and versatile, they are proud to be part of the u3a family. Their performances are not only concerts but celebrations of lifelong learning, creativity and connection.

Although there is currently a waiting list for new members, the group is always happy to hear from anyone interested in getting involved, whether as a future player, supporter or simply a fan of the music. So go along, tap your feet, and let Steelpantastic lift your spirits. This is more than music – it’s a movement, and it’s happening right here in Worksop.
