In a dazzling display of colour, rhythm, and community spirit, Steelpantastic – the UK’s only u3a-affiliated steel band – brought The Arena in Forest Town to life with a sold-out buffet and dance event that will be remembered for years to come.
From the moment the first notes rang out, the atmosphere was electric. The audience, dressed in vibrant Caribbean attire, mirrored the energy of the performers. Men wore flamboyant shirts in tropical hues, while the ladies turned heads in island-inspired outfits, creating a sea of colour and joy that perfectly matched the music.
Steelpantastic, part of Worksop and District u3a, is no ordinary band. With a line-up of bass, rhythm, and tenor pans, they deliver a rich, layered sound that is both infectious and uplifting. Their specially arranged, ever-expanding repertoire spans genres and generations, ensuring there is something for everyone.
The band is also a celebration of creativity, community, and culture. Born from the ingenuity of Trinidad and Tobago, the steel pan transforms industrial oil drums into instruments of melody and harmony. Rehearsing weekly at Crown Place Community Centre in Worksop, the band is a hub of camaraderie and musical exploration.
