Worksop Sea Cadets needs volunteers with practical business experience to help with the management of the unit.
Worksop Sea Cadets has lots of roles to match your profession, such as helping manage finances and budgets, fundraising for the unit, organising events, writing press releases for local media and building corporate relationships with local businesses.
The unit’s Commanding Officer, Sub Lieutenant (SCC) Sam Bloomfield RNR, said: “We need adults to share their professional skills and experience in the Sea Cadet unit to help us thrive in the local community. You can help give the unit direction, identifying what it needs to make it an enjoyable experience for young people.”
“We are an independent charity that relies on volunteers in the local community to help make a positive different to the lives of so many young people in your area.”
Volunteers are supported by a network of other volunteers and all our roles are flexible and dynamic, meaning that you can give whatever skills and time you can. As a new volunteer, you will receive an induction and will be given training and support to make you feel comfortable in your role. We are always there to provide ongoing help and support.
Worksop Sea Cadets opened in 1945 and has supported thousands of young people in Worksop and across Bassetlaw to learn nautical skills, with 40 cadets currently attending, supported by 18 volunteers. However, more are always welcome.
Worksop Unit is part of national charity Sea Cadets, which gives young people a new perspective. They broaden horizons and create possibilities. Working across the UK with 14,000 young people between 10 and 18, they help them see the world with confidence, gained through the challenge of nautical adventure and a Royal Navy ethos. Their aim is to help more young people to see the future that they want – and make that future happen.
The unit is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 6.30pm to 9.00pm, and meets at Worksop Sea Cadets, TS BENTINCK, 74a Gateford Road, Worksop S80 1TY. Visit: or email to find out how you can join.
