Ryton Chorale

The singers in Ryton Chorale continue to enjoy their Zoom rehearsals on Mondays, the normal rehearsal night. Recording is currently underway of the madrigal ‘Sing We and Chant It’ by Thomas Morley. The launch on YouTube is scheduled for 28th June. Simon Lumby, the conductor, said that this third recording is the most demanding yet that the choir has done.
Looking ahead to the autumn, their first concert since Christmas 2019 will be on Saturday 6th November in The Crossing, Newcastle Street, Worksop. Entitled ‘Sing We and Chant It’, the concert will include two of the pieces that the choir has recorded this year. It will also be the first time that Simon Lumby conducts the choir, COVID having delayed his debut with Ryton Chorale. He is very much looking forward to presenting his selection of music to the Worksop audience. Ticket prices and time will be announced in the coming months.
In the meantime, listen to the latest recording on YouTube at the end of the month for a flavour of the November concert. If you have yet to go to a Ryton concert, this one is for you with its wide variety of music – some very short pieces, some a little longer. Give it a try.
