The last meeting of the North Notts Association of National Trust Members’ season took place with the AGM on Thursday 17th April, followed by a talk from Benedict Jephcote on the subject of the ‘Rise of the Dukeries’. Many take the local area’s history for granted, but Benedict’s in-depth research revealed how, after numerous boundary changes and changes of ownership, Worksop came to be known as the Gateway to the Dukeries.
The first outside visit of the season took place on Wednesday 21st May, with members travelling to the Thackray Museum and the Royal Armouries in Leeds. Both locations offered a rich and engaging historical experience. The rest of the summer programme is outlined below.
Different payment options are available for those who do not wish to attend every event. Full membership costs £32.00 for a single person or £58.00 for a joint membership, covering seven talks and five outings. Outings are priced individually for all members. Alternatively, a basic subscription is available at £6.00 for a single member or £8.00 per couple, with a charge of £7.00 for each talk attended. Visitors, including non-National Trust members, are welcome to attend all talks at £7.00 per talk. Prices are subject to confirmation.
Application forms to join the Association can be downloaded from the website, and news of talks and events is available by joining the mailing list.
