The Summer Fun Day hosted by Welbeck WI, is taking place on Sunday 28th July from 11.00am to 4.00pm. There will be fun for all the family, young and old at this free event which is running for its second year. There will be lots of things to do, from traditional fête games and races to craft tents and local producer stalls. Dogs are also welcome and can take part in the fun dog competition and the Welbeck Brass Band will also be providing entertainment during the course of the day. There will be many more activities announced shortly, so please follow the Welbeck WI Facebook page.
The Welbeck WI Summer Fun Day will be organised, coordinated and staffed by volunteers from the Welbeck WI. With the area not having had a village fête of any kind for decades, it seemed the most fitting event for the Welbeck WI to organise a fun day, in order to bring together the wider community.
The aim is also to encourage families to attend who may not be able to attend more costly shows, and provide a socialising opportunity for more vulnerable or lonely members of the community such as the elderly, those living in isolated locations, or those with limited mobility. Tackling loneliness is a remit of WIs up and down the country and we hope that this event will be the first of many for individuals and families within our community. Plans are underway to hopefully provide a minibus pick-up and drop-off service throughout the villages in the area, in order to enable vulnerable or elderly members of the community to attend this event. Please contact Welbeck WI if you would like to register your interest to use this service.
