Jazz Steps Live: Jazz and Poetry
The David ‘Stickman’ Higgins Ensemble will be performing at Worksop Library on Tuesday 1st October at 7.30pm as part of the Inspire Poetry Festival. Jazz poet David Stickman Higgins blends poetry with live music from his jazz-funk fusion ensemble. Expect poetry interwoven with funky jazz, exploring themes of roots and belonging, inspired by Higgins’ life experiences and British Caribbean heritage.
Tickets are available for £13.00 (booking is highly recommended).
Fun Palace 2024
The highly popular Fun Palace returns on Saturday 5th October from 10.00am to 3.00pm. This event offers a range of arts, science, music, and cultural activities for all ages – and it’s all free!
Activities include:
- Crafting and creating with the Harley Gallery, BCVS, Now Church Langold, and From the Heart Charity
- Heritage crafts from Bassetlaw Museum, Mr Straw’s House, and Clumber Park National Trust
- Science busking tricks with Ignite and snap circuit building with the University of Sheffield’s Women in Engineering Society
- A giant plasma ball demonstration from the UK Atomic Energy Authority
- Little Creatives sensory play session for under 5s
- Live music from Langold Dyscarr Community School Choir, Dukeries Ukeries, and The Red Hot Band
Other highlights include recycling games from Veolia, interactive workshops with Dogs Trust, nature crafts, badge making, giant games, and more!

Children’s Author Event: Creaky Castle with Jane Clarke
Join author Jane Clarke for a spooky session at Creaky Castle on Thursday 31st October at 2.00pm. This fright-filled event, based on her picture book Creaky Castle, illustrated by Christyan Fox, includes a bat-making activity.
Suitable for children aged four to six. Tickets are £3.00 for children (accompanying adults attend for free) – booking is highly recommended.
Hire a stall at Worksop Library’s Christmas Market
Worksop Library’s Christmas Market will take place on Saturday 30th November from 10.00am to 2.00pm. The library is inviting local makers, bakers, and small businesses to hire stalls.
